Programme, panels and readings
with Ann Cotten, Andrea Scrima and Musa Okwonga, hosted by Shane Anderson
The focus of the tenth PARATAXE Symposium was Berlin’s multi-voiced English-language literature. Curated by Jake Schneider, the symposium explored contemporary references by English-language literary figures in Berlin on questions of form, craft and narrative: How can historical novels and narrative nonfiction texts re-describe or reveal the past? How can poems and short stories record the fleeting now? And how do Berliners-by-choice imagine the future of our city: as dystopia, paradise or an ambivalent mixture?
The evening reading introduced Ann Cotten, Musa Okwonga and Andrea Scrima, three influential authors whose works emerge in the intermediate zones of culture, language and place.
PARATAXE is a project of the Berliner Literarische Aktion e.V. and is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe. The Parataxe symposia are realised in cooperation with the LCB and Literaturport.
Event in German and English.
