Livestream on 31 August 2023 from 19.30 h
VOOO – Villa of One’s Own is the new digital workshop space of the Literary Colloquium for guests in the house and on the net, for translators and authors from all over the world. VOOO offers space for collaborative research, joint work, social exchange and presentations – whether at the (material) table, as a table talk, with the Woka in the VOOOadventure world or in the livestream. VOOO is point cloud and laboratory, transforming spirit and the digital heart of the house.
To kick things off, the villa opens a virtual studio on cannibalism, the theme of the TOLEDO-TALKS series »Tupi or not tupi«. Ekkehard Knörer, cultural scientist and co-editor of the magazine Merkur, will guide us through the works. From 9.30 pm we will open the doors of the digital villa and invite you to explore it. At various stations on site at the LCB, we will present works from VOOO: the artist duo Miji Ih & Hara Shin will show their multimedia installation »Taking Roots in the Air«. And from 10pm we continue the programme with VOOO – Digital Late Night.
19.30 h | Presentation of the digital Villa of One’s Own
With Florian Höllerer, Lara Gross and Peter Dietze
19.45-21.00 h | Atelier opening: TUPI OR NOT TUPI
The Brazilian avant-garde of the 1920s was in many ways influenced by Oswald de Andrade’s »Manifesto Antropófago« (1928). It became the starting point for numerous reflections on decolonial cultural techniques, cultural incorporation practices, hybridity and ethical translation. Over the course of several months, a group of translators and authors have been exploring these themes and will present their work at the opening ceremony.
With Daniela Dröscher, Maximilian Gilleßen, Aurélie Maurin, Simone Homem de Mello, Mehdi Moradpour, Lena Müller, Oliver Precht and Senthuran Varatharajah.
Moderation: Ekkehard Knörer
