In 2022, Brazil celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Semana de Arte Moderna, the Week of Modern Art, which took place in São Paulo between 13 and 17 February 1922. A date of great significance for the Brazilian cultural and art scene, the resonance of which can still be felt today. To mark the occasion, we invited Berlin-based poets Angélica Freitas and Ricardo Domeneck to talk at the LCB about the influence of Brazilian modernism on their own poetry. The conversation was initiated and moderated by Odile Kennel, who has translated poems by Freitas and Domeneck into German.
